In-House Counsel World Summit will takes place in Paris the 24th and 25th october 2016, for its 5th edition, in the prestigious Maison de la Chimie.

This major event brings together nearly 500 general counsels from around the world to discuss the know-how and good practices. AFJE is proud to be mandated by In-House Counsel Worldwide (ICW) this outstanding summit in the world of law.

After Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Singapore, Paris was chosen to host this event, further reinforcing the image of the profession and of Paris as a place of inescapable law.

Stéphanie FOUGOU, AFJE's president and Vallourec Group's General counselis pleased that the summit be held in France. « Paris is truly the ideal location for the summit venue insofar as the in-house counsel profession's evolution is a core subject of significant debate within the legal community in France »

Jonathan MARSH, ICWS 2016 Chairman and AFJE's Vice-president is « proud  to be associated with a summit of this international magnitude, representing an unparalleled opportunity for exchange among legal professionals worldwide. It is a genuine pleasure to host such an event, which will be made possible by the strong support of our sponsors, a select group of leading international corporations, law firms and service providers»

The duality embodied in the term glocalization is an integral part of the international, continental or regional practice of law engaged in by the modern in-house counsel irrespective of the size or geographic scope of the business he or she serves, given the realities of globalization. The theme is particularly well-suited to the realities within Europe which is hosting the summit in 2016. The location of the summit in Paris will highlight its role as a major world legal center and will allow for interaction with French and European institutions. Although the implications of this theme for in-house counsel are vast, we can attempt to summarize it in a phrase: The In-House Counsel going Glocal, Global business, local rules – Local business, global rules. This concept embodies the practice of law within an international environment within which we must consider the implications of local law, culture, business practices. In-house counsel are increasingly required to make choices within this theme.

This event undoubtedly has the will to project into the future. The reflections that will emerge will be in no doubt a real benefit to the profession and for each participant and sponsor.
